Time again for the State Fair

Wow! I can't believe that another year has flown by and it's time already for our annual State Fair. We love the fair. We go every year...well except for 2006, but that's because I was having a baby...and this year was no exception.

I was not happy to hear that the forecast for the weekend was going to be 95-100° AFTER we already promised the kids that we were going to go this weekend. Why couldn't we have chosen LAST weekend, when it was MUCH cooler?? C'est la vie.

One of my personal favorites of the fair is the 4H auction. Not so much the AUCTION part, but the opportunity to see and pet (and yes, even SMELL) the farm animals. It was especially fun for me this year because Jadyn has been particularly interested in farm animals...her Playskool farm, the puzzle Heather go her, and a lot of farm animal books. She knows every animal and their corresponding sounds, and it was thrilling to watch her face light up as she saw each animal up close and personal for the first time. She was so excited when she saw the cows..."A cow Mommy!" and quickly answered "MOOOOO" when I asked her what a cow said. It was precious.

Paige & Coleton (as usual) had fun riding the loopy loop & thrilling rides. They went on quite a few this year, now that Coleton is tall enough! They each won a little stuffed animal...Paige won an elephant (that she gave to Jadyn) and Coleton won a turtle. They were so proud!!

Elmo took Jadyn on the Merry-go-Round this year. I took her last year, but I wanted to get some good pictures this time. Jadyn was...what's the word....petrified of the horses (dragons, pigs, etc.) so, unfortunately I didn't get any good shots. Elmo ended up just sitting on a bench with her, but apparently even that was scary because she wanted me there too. She settled for Paige.
