As I drove into the garage today from coming home from work, Coleton opened the door to greet me. He was wearing 2 large silver "Madis Gras" bead necklaces. I asked him, "What are you wearing?" to which he answered, "My Bling Bling." I just had to hug him...what a character!
Since I had the night off from Boot Camp, I wanted to spend time with the kids and not sit around doing nothing. We decided to go to the park and play soccer. When I finally found a soccerball (mind you we have half a dozen...somewhere), I couldn't find a needle for the pump to pump it up. I did, however, find a football. Originally we were going to ride our bikes to the park, but I decided that the car might be better since it was hot (96 today) and Paige & Coleton wouldn't want to make the trip home. As we were on our way, Coleton said "can we invite (neighbor friend's name) too?" Sure...what's 1 more kid? Well friend was psyched to come...parents said yes...but friend's 2 cousins were over, so they had to come too. The problem? Not enough room in the car since I have a rental. Back to riding bikes....except friend's littlest cousin can't ride a 2 wheeler yet. Ok, fine...what about a scooter? Check...little cousin will ride the scooter.
After 30 minutes of deciding how we were going to get to the park and doubling my kid load (4 of which were BOYS), we were finally ready to go. Little cousin (really tiny for his age) is 6 (looks maybe 4) was having a hard time keeping up with the bikes so we stopped to let him get in front. FINALLY we made it to the park.
I was throwing the football to the boys while Paige & Jadyn were playing on the playground. Now, I don't know what it is about PARKS, but every SINGLE TIME we go to the park, Jadyn has an accident. She NEVER EVER EVER has accidents anywhere or anytime else. Sure enough, after about 15 minutes, she peed. No problem...I was prepared...I thought. Oh, crap! I left her clothes in the car...that we were supposed to take in the first place. Fine, it's hot out, she'll dry (WHAT ELSE WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO?).
As we were playing football, I heard a kid screaming 4 letter words, "shut your face" and "I'm gunn punch your teeth out." As I turned around, I saw a little boy completely bullying the other kids (there was a soccer practice going on and a lot of kids playing). Not wanting to make a scene, I told "my" kids to ignore him. I kid you not, this little boy couldn't have been more than 7 years old...and as I walked my kids away from his bullying, he called me a *itch. I asked him where his mom was and he told me that he was there with his sister. Who was his sister? One of the little kids practicing soccer...maybe 8.
Who on EARTH leaves their little kids ALONE at a busy public park? The little boy then proceeded to tell me that his parents let him say WTF and that they hit each other. True? Probably not, but I was flabbergasted. What are people raising? Though I told the kids to ignore this little gem, they couldn't. What ever they wanted to play, he would inturrupt. After an hour or so, this kid's mom came to pick them up. What to do...what to do....If MY child were acting that way, would I want to know? WITHOUT A DOUBT. As she summoned her child over from the soccer field, I followed. Conversation:
Me: Hi, how are you?
Her: Good
M: Is this your son?
H: Yes
M: I just thought you'd like to know that he's been a bit of a bully and been swearing a lot
H: What do you mean?
M: Well, he's been threatening the other kids and swearing at them. He called me a profanity as well.
H:Oh, OK. (walks away with son)
As I stood there lifting my jaw off the ground, my anger was redirected from the kid to his mom. Does that kid even have a chance at becoming AN ASSET to society with a mom like that? OK?? OK!! What a sad situation.
I am a great mom.
I am a great mom.
I am a great mom.
Time to go home.
So, to recap.....in about 2 hours...
I went from riding bikes to driving to riding bikes
I went from 3 to 6 kids in tow
Jadyn had an accident
I met the youngest bully ever
I was called a *itch
I had a disheartening conversation with a mom.
What an adventure!

I would have gone OFF on that woman! Telling her what a menace she is raising and Then I would say, you just better watch out, next time you drop your little baby off at the park, someone might call the cops saying you abandoned them... or they just might come up missing, because obviously you don't care.
okay, I probably wouldn't say that, but i'd want to!
Trust me..it was all the courage I could muster to confront her at all...and after I did, I wished I hadn't since it obviously didn't do anything but make me more mad! I really was dumbfounded that a MOTHER didn't care that her son was BULLYING and SWEARING at other kids. I don't even want to think about what's going on in his house that he thinks that's OK. I wasn't angry at him anymore...I felt bad for him being raised like that.
