Fall Fun

I love Fall. I would love it even more if I were able to see leaves changing and smell the crisp air. Oh how I miss that!

Fall signals the beginning of the Holiday season...a change in weather...and a better feeling in the air. There are so many things to do, now that the weather is cooling down...albeit still in the 90's. It makes me all warm and toasty inside when I see the pumpkins and scarecrows decorating people's lawns. It is by far my favorite season.

Here in Arizona, fall not only means the State Fair is back, but a lot of other community events happen too. Saturday there was a town Halloween Bash at a local community park. It was the kid's reward this week for their good behavior. Since the 4th of July was so windy this year, all of the fireworks were canceled. They were going to be set off at the Halloween Bash instead. We got there early, as usual, right when it started. I was very glad too because it looked like it was going to be a crowded night.

There were a lot of fun things for the kids to do...blow up slides and bouncers, obstacle courses, a fun house, a haunted house, and games to play. Elmo & I stood back and let the kids play. It saddened me how independent Jadyn was that night. Aside from constantly making sure I was still standing next to the bouncer, she didn't need me at all. Coleton & Paige took turns helping her into the bouncer. She would jump a while and then climb up the ladder to slide down the slide. Rinse, lather & repeat....for about 20 minutes. She was so fun to watch! Paige & Coleton took turns between "guarding" Jadyn from the bigger jumpers and playing little games for prizes. They got little trinkets like tattoos, slime, candy and bracelets.

After about an hour of playing (we also went in the haunted house...for a fee...) the kids were hungry so we hit the food stands. Nothing beats Nachos and soda when you're a kid,

so that's what Paige & Coleton chose. I got Jadyn a hot dog, but after a few bites and a few minutes of eying Coleton's nachos, she decided that's what she wanted too. It was her first Nacho experience, and she enjoyed every chip...first licking off the cheese with the tip of her tongue, and then munching the chips.

After "dinner" we went through the Fun House (for another fee). Jadyn liked it so much she wanted to go again! The kids played a few more games, but the lines had grown from a minute or 2 to 15 minutes per ride/game. Jadyn didn't have the patience to wait her turn, so I took her to play on the playgrounds (since it was at a park) while Elmo watched Paige & Coleton play games & wait for the rides a little longer. We decided to leave at about 7:30 and watch the fireworks from home since Jadyn was getting a little crabby and the park was PACKED.

All in all it was a nice family night.

I love Fall.
